All Bekina Boots are manufactured in our family-owned company located in Belgium, in the rural village of Kluisbergen (in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes). We export our boots worldwide, but our day-to-day business operations and production still take place locally from our family business in Kluisbergen. In this way we can meet the highest safety and quality standards, control and craftmanship.  

Our boots are made from NEOTANE®, a self-developed high-quality polyurethane. It's a unique mixture of components, that creates a PU foam structure. The chemical reaction of the multiple components forms a durable and tough layered product with air cells. It makes our boots very light and flexible, highly thermally insulated, breathable and durable. Furthermore, it has a self-regulating thermal inner layer and natural ventilation. This ultra-durable material last up to 4x longer than rubber or PVC. 

Our boots are ideal for professionals in agriculture, food processing, construction, fishery... who need boots to work in all comfort and safety. But you can wear our boots also for if you enjoy getting outside in your spare time and want to do it in comfort. Each boot is designed with specific industry needs in mind, from slip resistance in wet environments to insulation for cold environments. 

Rubber and PVC are often used as material in safety boots but don't offer optimal comfort, flexibility and durability. Polyurethane offers many improvements in these areas. PU boots are generally lighter, more comfortable for long work days, and more durable than traditional rubber or PVC safety boots. PU is a flexible material with a very good thermal insulation, making it ideal for demanding work environments. At Bekina Boots, we use NEOTANE®, a self-developed high-quality PU material. 

NEOTANE® is up to 40% lighter and last up to 4 times longer, compared to traditional materials such as rubber or PVC boots. That durability makes our boots the most cost-effective ones in the long run as you have to replace them much less frequently. 

Work boots are mainly designed to work in comfort, while safety boots are focusing on working in all safety. The safety work boots of Bekina Boots are offering both. We have different safety levels, with a steel or composite toe cap and a steel or textile midsole as the highest safety level. But thanks to our self-developed PU NEOTANE®-material, it’s not only protection your feet when it comes to safety but also to work in all comfort. The boots are lightweight, flexible, breathable and strong thermal insulated. With Bekina Boots, you don’t have to choose between comfort and protection because you get the best of both worlds. 

Bekina Boots last up to four times longer than rubber or PVC boots, which means you need to replace them less often, and therefore you help reduce waste. Bekina Boots footbeds consist of 100% recycled content, our packaging boxes consist of 71% recycled paper, water-based ink and are fully recyclable. The packaging bags consist of 30% recycled content, contain 60% less ink than before and are also 100% recyclable. Thus, we are always trying to invest in sustainable solutions. The Steplite EasyGrip has a standard fit, where the StepliteX SolidGrip has a wider fit. 

O4, S4 and S5 are the indicators of the safety level of a boot. O4 boots have no safety, S4 refers to a steel or composite toe cap and S5 refers to a steel or composite toe cap and a steel or textile midsole. 

Yes, many of our models include a steel or non-metalic/composite safety toe (S4 & S5). You can choose for only a safety toe cap (S4) or a safety toe cap together with a safety midsole (S5). Who don’t need a safety toe cap, can choose for a model without (O4). 

Choosing between a steel toe cap and a non-metallic (composite) toe cap depends on your work environment and specific safety needs.

Steel toe caps provide excellent impact and compression protection and are widely used in heavy-duty industries such as construction and manufacturing. However, in humid or salty environments, such as coastal areas or maritime industries, steel components are sensitive to corrosion over time, especially if the protective footwear is damaged or not properly maintained.

Non-metallic toe caps, made from composite materials, offer similar protection while being lighter, non-conductive, and resistant to corrosion. Their non-metallic nature means they do not trigger metal detectors, making them suitable for high-security environments with metal detection systems. Additionally, because they are non-conductive, composite toe caps provide better thermal insulation, which enhances comfort in extreme temperatures whether hot or cold. 

Bekina boots are designed and certified to comply with leading international safety standards, ensuring maximum protection and performance across a wide range of industries. European Standard (EN ISO 20345:2022 +A1:2024): This standard outlines strict requirements for safety footwear, including protective toe caps, penetration-resistant midsoles, and slip resistance. North American Standard (ASTM F2413): Bekina boots meet the ASTM International Standard, which defines essential performance criteria for impact and compression protection in safety footwear. Canadian Standard (CSA Z195): Our boots are CSA-certified, ensuring compliance with Canada’s safety footwear regulations, including toe protection and puncture-resistant soles. Australian Standard (AS 2210.3:2019): Bekina boots also meet Australian safety standards, providing reliable protection for occupational use in demanding environments. 

Yes, all Bekina Boots are 100% waterproof and designed to keep your feet dry in even the wettest conditions. Thanks to the strong and impenetrable outer layer. 

Yes, our boots have SR-certified slip-resistant soles for superior grip on wet and greasy surfaces. This makes them ideal for use in food processing industries, fishery, construction or agriculture, where contact with slippery substances is common. 

Yes, Bekina Boots are resistant to fats, manure and a variety of chemicals. More details in the chemical resistance list.  

Absolutely! All Bekina Boots are made from our self-developed PU NEOTANE® material. The PU foam structure consists of small air bubbles. This makes our boots 40% lighter in weight than rubber or PVC boots, which is a lot more comfortable to wear and prevents tired feet and legs when you’re walking around in them all day. 

It cannot be ruled out that the raw materials used in their manufacture contain ingredients of animal origin. 

Yes, our safety boots are anti-static and this is to prevent the build-up of static energy in the body, to avoid sparks that could cause fire or explosions. This is essential in workplaces such as chemical industries, manufacturing, or environments with flammable substances. 

Depending on the high pressure cleaning type you use: 

• The StepliteX Solidgrip S5 protect against 250 bar rotor jet, 500 bar mono rotor jet, 250 bar single round jet nozzle and 500 bar single fan jet nozzle. 
• The stand-off distance from the single nozzles and rotor jets to the surface of the safety boot has to be a coonstant 75 mm and the feed rate should be 0,2 m/s. 

Absolutely. All our boots are insulated for at least -20°C / -4°F. Our ThermoProtec, can withstand even temperatures up to -40°C/F°.

The boots with the best insulation is our StepliteX Thermoprotec with an insulation up to -40°C/-40°F.

According to ISO 20345:2022, "HI" indicates heat insulation of the sole.   

The outsole complex of Bekina Boots are certified according to EN ISO 20345:2022 +A1:2024 6.2.3.1 to use up to 150°C. This feature is crucial for hot environments like metallurgy, glass production, or asphalt work. 

Our Steplite EasyGrip and StepliteX SolidGrip are perfect choices for long working days as a farmer. They are both waterproof, slip-resistant, comfortable and easy to clean and disinfect. The Steplite EasyGrip offers you a standard fit, while the StepliteX SolidGrip has a wider fit. 

If you are working in a food processing environment, you can choose between the Steplite EasyGrip, StepliteX SolidGrip or StepliteX ThermoProtec. The StepliteX ThermoProtec has the highest thermal insulation (up to -40°C/°F), but is also the heaviest boot. If you prefer a lighter boot that also has a high thermal insulation (down to -30°C/-22°F), you can choose the StepliteX SolidGrip. The Steplite EasyGrip offers protection down to -20°C/-4°F. They are all easy to clean and disinfect. The Steplite EasyGrip and StepliteX SolidGrip come in a wide colour range, so you can colour-code for different areas. 

We would recommend our StepliteX StormGrip, which is specially designed for the needs of fishermen and slippery surfaces on the ship. This boot has a yellow rubber pad for extreme slip resistance, extra wear resistance and soft cushioning. Furthermore, the side of the sole has a closed rim to avoid net trapping. This boot is available in a version without safety toe cap (O4) or with a non-metallic toe cap and midsole (S5). Other possibilities for fishery are the StepliteX ThermoProtec (with a non-metallic toe cap and midsole) and the Steplite EasyGrip without a safety toe cap. 

Our StepliteX SolidGrip, available with steel toe cap (S4) or non-metallic toe cap and midsole (S5), is a perfect boot to suit the needs of an industrial environment. They are SRC-certified and therefore offer optimal grip, they keep your feet dry throughout the workday, and they are easy to clean. The sleek, smooth finish means that dirt cannot creep into the edges. A whole day pouring concrete on a construction site? You can be safe, warm, and comfortable with Bekina Boots.

Although Bekina Boots offers boots made from a strong material to last long, it is also important to maintain them properly to guarantee that quality. How to clean the best?

• Clean after use – Rinse off dirt with clean water and a bit of a cleaning product, never soak the boots in detergent or other chemicals.
• Don’t forget the inside – Clean the inside with water from time to time and let them dry before putting on.
• Wash the insoles – Remove the insoles and let them dry or wash in the washing machine at 30 °C maximum.
• Let them breathe – Keep your boots in a cool, dry place and let them air out. 

Unfortunately, it is not possible to repair broken boots, as glue cannot adhere to polyurethane. When the boots are worn out, it is time for a new pair. If you have any questions or concerns about damaged boots, please email to info@bekina-boots.com.
